COMPANY BACKGROUND: We have been retained by a rapidly growing, venture-backed, international energy technology company that seeks a hands-on Regional Sales Manager to join their senior management team. The company is headquartered in the Washington, DC area and has a solid business plan that provides the most innovative wireless technology within the smart grid industry. It is expected this person will work remotely - no relocation required. The company has assembled an experienced senior management team with strong operational and industry backgrounds. The company is in the beginning of its growth cycle and estimates revenue growth to exceed $100 million within the next five years. The company culture is goal-oriented, fast paced, and characteristic of an early stage, entrepreneurial technology-oriented organization. The company is currently seeking multiple Regional Sales Managers for the West, Northeast and Midwest regions.
POSITION INFORMATION: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for navigating a complex multi-level sales cycle in the Smart Grid space. This individual will be responsible for business development efforts to the energy/utility sector and will present compelling value propositions to potential customers in the organization’s target market. This person is a key member of the sales management team and must have a solid understanding of the business and issues that affect the company’s customers. This person will be a strategic business partner who can effectively develop relationships with target companies and provide a solution sales approach.
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree and 8-12 years of experience in industry sales, preferably with an emphasis on enterprise sales or IT solution sales.

Proven coordination and influencing skills.

Experience working within or leading a sales team; ability to effectively lead and energize a multi-functional team to meet sales plan.

Energy / Utility industry experience preferred.

Strong problem solving skills and ability to effectively influence and communicate with senior level business professionals.
